Sonar İstanbul 2021 AV Performances

We take a closer look at the memorable audio-visual performances of Sónar Istanbul, which took place in its fifth edition this year with the support of Digilogue!


Organized with the contributions of Digilogue, Sónar Istanbul, which has become the center of music, creativity and technology, brought fascinating audio-visual shows and new media artists together with the audience at Sónar Screen this year.

Gurur Gelen & Barış Büyükyıldırım & Erdal İnci's performance "Justintonic", which explores the connections between the physicality of sound and movement through mathematical analysis, illuminated scanned objects, spaces and terrains in real time through sound.

Kerem Altaylar, who continues his studies and researches in the fields of sound design, electro-acoustic/drone/contemporary music, electronic dance music, creative coding and sound programming, and Katran, who works to realize his desire to combine science, nature and electronic dance music, and his illusionic shows Algorave Istanbul. and gives a different perspective to the perception of visual experience.

Multi-disciplinary artist Ecem Dilan Köse, who digitally visualizes the data she collects from nature and traditional motifs, was on the Sonar Istanbul stage with her work “Human”. “Human” is accompanied by electronic music composer TKO.

The audiovisual performance “Introversion” in collaboration with the character and Motus Lumina reveals the concept of our inner thought patterns, emotional fluctuations and melancholic sensations.

Zeliha Doğusan's work "Rogue", which contains uncontrollable and unpredictable details, points to another of Sonar Screen's extraordinary moments.

Creating a virtual universe of sound and light in real time, Zo marks one of the memorable shows of the festival. Berlin-based multidisciplinary artist Lea Fabrikant and Dutch artist Tarik Barri use a complex system of AV loops, highly complex MIDI triggers, and creative programming. Zo explores this complex universe through hypnotic, impromptu performances.
